The bed-pad is the sensor of the alarm unit. The sensor is two strands of nichrome wire braid in parallel grooves of a soft rubber pad. These grooves recess the braid away from the child's body. Large size of 600mm by 450mm. This pad rolls up into a roll about 100 mm in diameter. It fits into a protective cover, tubular in shape, with a flap fastened by hook-and-loop tape. The connecting cord is 2.4m(8 feet) long, enabling parents to place the alarm control unit about two steps away from the bed. The child has to get out of bed to turn off the bell's sound. 20ml (tablespoon) of urine makes a circuit on the bed-pad which will trigger the alarm. Key Benefits
ImprovementsFurther improvement to the terminaition has a special tubing enclosing the cable where it terminates at the pad.. The connection of the flexible cable to the more rigid pad creates load points at the joint between terminals and cable and where the cable leaves the pad. An earlier improvement of the termination of the connecting cord had increased the life of the connection. In new bed-pads, the termination moves the bending point to where the connecting cord goes through the bed-pad. A special reinforcing tubing stiffens the cable and spreads the bending load. This tubing protects the cord and reduces fractures of the cable insulation. Pricing: AU$ 440.00 plus post and packing (includes cover)
